Please help me sell some nice stuff online! [More:]I am a little low on money for reasons I wont get into, so I am trying to sell some really nice stuff on craigslist, kijiji, and ONL. They are getting a few hits but no real action. I actually had a guy call me last night about my X-BOX 360 but I guess he decided against it. Unfortunately, it is foul weather here in Austin so hauling a large TV around, for example, will not be a good idea. Do any of you know of any techniques, practices, tips, or sources, preferably non-online, that you would use to move some very marketable electronics very quickly?
Make sure you have good pictures, attention grabbing titles, and thorough descriptions. I would give Craigslist more time. My sister sold a large screen television for 500 and it didn't even work.

I've sold several musical instruments on Craigslist, and I've noticed that the best time to do it is around the paydays on the 15th or the end of the month. You also have to give it several days to get good responses, namely ones that don't involve offers to trade a shitty Jeep for the item, or someone who tries to offer half of your asking price. Have lots of clear photos, make it clear that you're talking cash in hand only, and make sure you have a friend around when the transaction is taking place since there are some sketchy fuckers who hang out on Craigslist.

Barring that, if you really need money fast, head down to a pawn shop.

Also, make sure your description and titles are well written and tell the potential buyer everything they could possibly need to know about the item.

I've had bad experiences with trying to sell items too quickly, always ending up selling for far too little dinero.

I don't know what your situation is, so this might not make sense. But, frankly, if you're riding out a short spell of tight finances and need less than $1,000 or $2,000 and your credit is okay, I'd suggest accepting a credit card offer with a reasonable APR and with no interest accrued for 12 to 15 months.

Read the fine print, make sure it's all legit, run up a few hundred bucks and pay it off before you ever owe any interest. Or, make minimum payments and a year from now, transfer the balance to a card with a better APR and, AGAIN, no interest for another year!

Monthly payments are WAY low, you can pay it off ASAP when you're back in the cash, and your credit score will improve through the process.

You just have to remember not to get carried away. And have a definite REAL plan to pay it off before interest is due.

I HATE HATE HATE credit, but I've played this game before and came out ahead.

DISCLAIMOR: DON'T GET SUCKED INTO A LIFE OF CREDIT CARD DEBT, LOL! Just play the game for a year then quit while you're ahead.

Sorry if maybe that was off-topic and not applicable! Just ignore me if it is. I just hate seeing someone in a tizzy trying to sell things and potentially selling them too cheap. I'll always be pining for the white marine pearl Slingerland drum kit from my childhood I sold cheap to pay the rent, LOL.

A pawn shop will probably charge you less money than you stand to lose trying to sell on Craigslist.
