A couple of months ago I shared a few songs from the German band NEU!, who did three influential albums in the 1970s. I finally found a copy of their third album...[More:] and it has some EXCELLENT tracks. Here are two that make me extremely happy:

isi Another "motorik" song, it just feels upbeat and bouncy, like traveling on a beautiful day.

SEE LAND This one is a little more wistful, and is simply beautiful, IMO.
This was the first NEU! record I heard a long time ago and I just didn't get it. I think I was expecting it sound like Kraftwerk's "Computer World", which at the time is what I thought was supposed to be the proto krautrock album. But a few years ago when I went back to the NEU! well (the first album) I really dug it. So I guess it's time to give this album another chance.

I can understand that, Slack... I got into Kraftwerk in high school, but only knew their electronic music. Some years later I heard their first two albums (the ones with the traffic cones) and was totally unmoved by 'em. It was only in the last 12 years or so that I came to appreciate how excellent they actually are.

BoPo - my first Kraftwerk album was Computer World (still one of my 100 all time faves), and then I got Radio-activity, which totally confused me. I wanted more tunefull songs with catchy hooks. And I finally just heard the traffic cones albums a few years ago, and I still haven't commited to them. Maybe the power-pop side of me is just too hard to shake.

I actually heard "Autobahn" first, while listening to the radio one night with big late-70s headphones. It couldn't have been more perfect of an introduction.

The first album I actually owned was "Computer World," though, and yeah, I took to it more immediately than I did to their more abstract stuff.

I hear the Aphrodite's Child influence in those songs, which means a lot of Vangelis.
