I'm in irc! As is a whole bunch of other peoples.

Not sure why this buggy thing is so inconsistent.

I'm not able to spend time on it right now, but there's a Slashnet #help channel that might be useful if someone has the time to drop in and ask what's what.

Can't connect to the slahnet #help channel. Any slashnet web page does not load. The java client does not load. The channels load and then crap out. more It's been like this since at least Friday.

I dropped in #help- one of the slashnet servers has gone dead. This is what the guy in #help says (aka I don't really understand it but make of it what you will)- if you're connecting directly to area51, it won't work, and if you're connecting to irc.slashnet.org and it gets routed to area51 in the round robin dns, it won't work, either. But, the person in #help said connecting via irc.slashnet.org is always the best choice, and if you get routed to area51 while connecting, you should try again. They're not completely sure when or if area51 will ever be back, but they're working to remove it from the dns.

area51 is, for at least my side of the country the default server that irc.slashnet.org tries to connect to. It usually doesn't work so I've started pointing my IRC client to these other servers to get to slashnet.

there are more and i can find them if you still have issues.
