14 November 2007

I applied for Social Security disability just over 3 1/2 years ago, and finally today, I have my case adjudicated before a judge. [More:]
I have one of the best attorneys in the region (he turns down more clients than he takes), and my cardiologist finally coughed up a letter saying I am unfit for any work (with two arteries completely blocked and the third 95% blocked, all inoperable, you might just think so, heheh).

Damn, government, you need a lawyer just to prove you are sick. 3 1/2 years is the average wait time now. I can't wait for socialized healthcare. ;-P
Best of luck, mischief.

Sending happyhappylove energy to the judge. He's a gonna feel a soooo verrry verrry good, he won't a be able to say 'no' to anyting. (So be sure to also ask for a loan, if you're feeling any kind of pinch.)

Good luck. As I've discovered in my SSDI practice, it's that pesky onset date that's so important -- I hope you get an early one and, therefore, a big fat retro check to compensate you for the three and a half year wait to be heard.

My brother's SSD got all hosed up(long boring bureaucratic nightmare deleted) but in the end was restored with back payments. It was a wretched mess for my Mom and brother, but worked out. That may not be terribly reassuring, except to say that if you are denied, be persistent. good luck.

Just think of the back payments!

I'll be thinking of you-I have friends on disability and I know what they went through to get it.

Best of luck to you, mischief. Sorry you have to go through such a long, ludicrous process for something that should be pretty basic.

Well, with this particular crop of candidates, I don't think you've got anything to worry about on that front for a long, long time.

Our system sucks. And, I guess most others do too...
The worst part is having a disability and having to fight just to get something you have a right to receive. That just galls. And, who pays the attorney fees? arrrgggghhh!

All The Best to you!

May the judge be alert, well rested, and in good health. May she be floating on a cloud of generosity as she considers your case.

LUCK!

It took about 2 years for my SIL's to come through last year. That includes application, first turn down, appeal, etc. She did get a nice retro check. She should have applied a couple years before that but kept putting it off.
