Stupid Things and Good Things [More:]

Stupid things I've done lately:

- I lost a gift certificate that I won in a silent auction. It pains me a great deal that this is lost. A great deal. *cry*

-I didn't even attempt to transfer a plane ticket that I didn't use that was 300 dollars. More money down the drain.

Good Things:

-I spent time with some Kindergartners this morning. Kids are so sweet. I want to squeeze them.

-I ate a big bowl of healthy high-fiber cereal this morning. Yay, fiber!
Stupid things: Set the coffee pot up to auto-brew this morning but both the BF and I woke up too late for coffee. There's a whole pot sitting at home, being cold.

Good things: We made a ton of chili chese dip last night and I'm really looking forward to going home and having some with Fritos.

What kind of a gift certificate was it?

Sad/Stupid thing that happened just now: my wife just saw one of her friends get hit by her own car!

She was parked up, and her son released the handbrake (accidentally) and it rolled into her, crushing her against the next car. No idea about the extent of her injuries, but she was conscious and able to move her toes. Could be broken leg(s)/hip/pelvis?

They sent all the kids back into the school so they wouldn't have to see her!

Oh gosh chuck, that is horrible. I'm glad she is speaking and wiggling her toes. I hope the injuries aren't serious.

Youngergirl, chili and Fritos? Yum! Can I come over? I think I'll make the same thing for dinner tonight. The gift certificate is for a Silk Peel. It's probably a crock but it would have been fun! It has so be somewhere in this house!

Stupid thing: I had to take the less-convenient public transportation home yesterday, because one of my clients was waiting at the stop for the most-convenient bus and I feel entirely weirded out about riding a bus home with my high school clients. It's like I'm scared they're going to start lobbing spitballs at me or something. Bad flashbacks.

Good thing: In the lobby of my workplace, they're giving away apples. Yay, apples!

Stupid thing: For the second night in a row I was too chicken to begin a Serious Talk that needs to be had with my boyfriend called Let's Get Married, What's the Hangup?

Good thing: We had hotmonkeysex instead. :)

Stupid thing: I have chickened out all this week of making a difficult phone call to my cousin in relation to my aunt's will. I will probably do it Friday morning, and talk to his machine. His daughter will be upset, but he has to carry out my aunt's wishes, as he is her Executor.

Good thing: I did not gain any weight while I was in NYC. I ate a lot but then I also got lots of exercise too.

Stupid thing: I am eating a Greek salad with bell peppers and cucumbers all through it, and am probably going to have the mother-of-all-heartburns in a couple hours. (I'm picking out the nasty purple onions, though- those REALLY give me fits.)

Good thing: woke up this morning to the warmth of the electric blanket, the partner, and a purring cat, and thought, "Any day that starts like this is bound to be okay."

Stupid thing: I forgot there was a coworker birthday lunch today and brought my lunch to work.

Good thing: We're going to have real Chicago deep dish pizza for the birthday lunch, and the lunch I brought will be just fine tomorrow.

Stupid Thing: I'm crabby, possibly because the neighbors new dog has woken me up 2 days in a row. No no bad neighbors!

Good Thing: I took the AC out of the window, finally, and shut the window, and the place is lovely and warm and there's even a little natural light! I sent the laundry out, so soon I'll have lots of clean clothes. Tonight is ANTM at the gym night.

And LoriFLA, that gift certificate will show up when you least expect it. I lost my (outdated) childhood passport in my house for almost a year, and then one day, poof! I found it. So annoying.

Stupid thing: No stupid thing today! (wow.) So instead, my stupid thing from a couple of weeks ago, let me show you it! I went to the street market (like a one-day-a-week farmers' market, except there is more stuff than just veggies), but I forgot that I had moved some money from my purse (because I don't like to carry too much money), and when I got to buying flowers, I thought I had about 200 Euros on me, but actually had about five... and I needed to pay 15. I had spent about a half an hour picking out the flowers (and really wanted them), so I told the guy to hold them, and I'd be back. And I walked all the way home (about 20 blocks) to get money, and all the way back to get the flowers... and it was only about halfway back home the second time that I remembered that there is an ATM only a couple of blocks from the flower guy, and that I had had my card with me the whole time. I really worried about myself after that.

Good Thing: omg, we received the bookcases we ordered on Friday today (are they sloooow, or what?), finally shelved all our books that have been in boxes, cleared out our second front room and made it pretty... and YUM! Seven months after moving in, we've finally decanted all the boxes and live in the whole house. Yay, us! Also, Bunny synchronisity! Today, I had high fiber cereal for breakfast for the first time, since one is supposed to eat breakfast, and one is supposed to get more fiber. *clinks non-fibery champagne glasses with loriFLA*

That's awful, chuck. The same thing happened to my best friend a few years ago while she was holding her newborn. She was walking behind the car to put the baby in her carseat when her minivan (for reasons still unknown) rolled backwards and pinned her to another car. Knocked her unconscious, but somehow she and the baby ended up being fine. Hope the same is true in this case.

stoopid thing: entered the date wrong on my calendar, missed a concert I wanted to go to, and had tickets for. Cannot bring myself to throw the tickets out yet.

good thing: taking Friday off, cause I'm kind of crispy at work.

Good thing: Cheers, taz. The fiber cereal is great. Do you know a female is supposed to consume 25 grams of fiber a day? A male: 35 grams. That's a lot of fiber! I like the Fiber One cereal and All Bran. Fiber One has 14 grams per half cup! Two bowls of that and you are good to go. No pun intended.

Bad thing: I have to play Bunco tonight. I volunteered to be a sub. It seems that every month there is a person missing and I am called upon. Rolling three dice in absolute boredom. Am I jaded? Am I cynical? Do I not have a lust for life? I can't get into Bunco.

There's a lady who comes into the library who keeps asking me when we're going to do a Bunco night. I've never bothered to find out all the details about the game, because it doesn't sound like much fun (and also because, if you have dice, why not just play craps or something?), but here's the copy from the back cover of a book called It's Bunco Time!:

Everything you need to Bunco!

To know Bunco is to love Bunco. The old-fashioned dice game of the future is even more fun with a pack of friends and plenty to eat and drink. Now The World Bunco Association (TM) offers one book full of everything you need to know. It's Bunco Time! is filled with great recipes to use both for your Bunco gatherings and for quick and easy meals you can make for your family before rushing off to your Bunco night. Included are recipes for beverages, appetizers, main and side dishes, desserts, and much more. It's Bunco Time! also has the detailed rules to Bunco, scorecards, the history of Bunco, and information on how to start a Bunco club and organize a Bunco party.

So Shake the Dice, Give a Roll, and Yell 'Bunco!'

I'm so sick of typing 'bunco.'

box, that is hilarious. My husband actually asked me what was for dinner tonight. I said: "I have no idea, bring the kids to Chick-fil-A. I'm going to Bunco." Ha! Fat chance I cook a meal for the family before heading out to Bunco! Fend for yourselves!

Bunco wasn't half bad tonight. I drank some wine and some beer and chatted with the people. I'm going to the landfill on Friday with my friend from Bunco with our kids. We've decided to bring them for educational purposes and to see all of the poor birds that flock to the area. There are tons of bald eagles at the landfill. Good bird watching at the landfill.

I'm making chili and Fritos for dinner tomorrow night I didn't get to it today but I will have chili very soon! I know youngergirl makes chili cheese dip, but I'm making my spicy turkey chili with shredded cheddar. She inspired me. Must have Fritos!

LoriFLA: My mom used to eat 'walking tacos' all the time in high school. Open a snack sized bag of fritos, add chili, chopped onions and shredded cheese. Walk around and eat out of the bag with a spoon. So don't forget your onions tomorrow. And make sure the mister eats some too - chili + fritos + onions = one of those foods you have to make sure your SO eats too if you plan on kissing. Just like doritos or pickles.
