To bookend WolfDaddy's earlier TV post... let's compile a list of the all-time worst TV shows evah! I'll start: Small Wonder (The horror...)
There was a show called Highway Men that I loved as a kid but only aired say two episodes. I'm pretty sure it was pitched as "Knight Rider meets semis."
also, Viper, which was probably the first obvious product placement (the hero drove a dodge viper).
Lottery was a pretty terrible show. The premise was quite simple, you had two people going around delivering checks to the lottery winners, who not surprisingly, were having a rough time making it in life.
Battlestar Galactica 1980 was among the most disappointing series ever. The "Space Ball" episode springs to mind, and I really, really wish it wouldn't.
...and I happen to love Small Wonder. Watch an episode - it's like the actors can barely keep a straight face and they know it's a joke. Almost surreal.
While not completely related to the subject at hand -- whadafuxup with the severe sophomore slump of shows like Heroes and Friday Night Lights and, maybe, Ugly Betty? I really enjoyed the first season of all three shows but the second years for all three have, at best, inspired "meh" in me.
Though if they keep dressing Taylor Kitsch in as little clothing as possible I'll put up with just about anything Friday Night Lights will fling at me.
Two and A Half Men
Heroes
Bones
The Amazing Race
Grey's Anatomy
TMZ
anything on Vh1
anything on MTV
anything on Spike Television
the televised analysis of any NFL football game
(shall I go on?)
The Good News? The Kitchen Disasters! show, and last week's SNL with Bryan Williams. Dude is funny.
Ok, I have to take offence at the inclusion of The Amazing Race in that list. Everything else on all the lists, I agree with and could add all but about 5 shows that ever appear on TV without a qualm. Naming bad TV shows is a bit like using dynamite to catch fish in a barrel, though.
Pretty much the entire genre of 'American reality tv' sucks. Trust American tv execs to run a concept towards the gutter as quickly as possible.
Having said that, I don't know if anything on the planet could ever be as obnoxious as Big Brother (UK). It's just fucking awful... painful... like being jabbed in the frontal lobes with a rusty needle full of thorazine.
