Digestive Advantage? Anyone ever try this stuff? [More:]My roommate has lactose intolerance and IBS and was thinking of giving it a go. He does take lactaid pills on occasion, but they can irritate his stomach in different ways. I ordered the adult LI sample for him, he's getting the IBS one, to see if either helps any.

But, if anyone here has tried it and says it's an awesome life-changing product he may just buy a box instead of waiting four to six weeks for the sample to arrive.
I've used the IBS and recommended it to others as well. I think it really works. I am also lactose intolerant - I didn't find as much help with those (the regular lactaid pills don't seem to help me at all, so HMMV). I think I bought mine through drugstore.com and may have some left over if you want them - drop me an e-mail, I'll see what I have.

Poor guy. Maybe this hip-hop song about IBS will make him feel better.

I'm lactose intolerant and the regular lactaid pills are a miracle for me. I tried an LI product from Ganeden awhile back. This packaging looks different to me, but it was the same deal with a choice of either LI or IBS free sample and it was a once-a-day pill for LI that claimed that you only needed to take that once-a-day and you could eat as much dairy as you wanted. Is this the same pill?

For me, it gave me a really upset stomach. Nothing nearly so bad as plain LI (which usually causes violent vomiting for me; this was more The Big D and a lot of gas and cramps), but still unpleasant. And this was only taking the pill. If I actually tried to eat dairy while taking it, I was a mess. I stopped after a week because I still had to take Lactaid when eating dairy and it made me feel like crap.

But, a friend of mine at the time who has IBS tried taking those pills and they really helped him out.

Everyone I've met with LI has different symptoms and different reactions, so it seems like you just have to try things out for yourself. I've met others who can't take the Lactaid pills, but for me they are utterly amazing. So his experience with the Digestive Advantage stuff might be completley different, too.

Good luck to your friend! I hope pizza is on his horizon...
