I tend to be the person holding the camera, so I have very few pictures of myself. I stole these from my girlfriend's computer.
Last autumn, near my home. I think that's my most favourite photo of myself. It also appeared in the magazine where my first short story was published.
Thanks crush-onastick: that was the best result from my last attempt at a 'posed' self-portrait—I felt quite foolish scuttling back & forth between the camera & the chair, trying each time to remember to exhale at the right moment…
Also, Youngergirl will announce the theme next week, too, but I am to pick next week's (Nov. 9) theme and I've decided upon "Pretty, shiny". If you're interested in picking the next theme (Nov. 16), shoot me an email (the crush @ onastick address is down for maintenance, but I've updated my profile), otherwise, I'll randomly pick someone who posted in this thread.
The second one was taken last year by my neighbor with my camera during one of our epic snowstorms. This was a 3-footer. I'm pretty sure this photo has appeared here earlier. (I cropped and processed this one)
chuckdarwin (re: my red hat) - I received the hat as a joke present from a former friend (it was part of his attempt to make me look as fake Dominican as possible - he gave me flip flops, a tropical/cruise shirt, a speedo, a shell necklace and that red hat). I didn't wear the hat for awhile but had it lying around. After one of my metal studding projects, I had a few metal studs lying around and I decided to stick them on my hat to form a mohawk (I always wanted to grow one but due to forces outside of my control, I can't). I then had a pile of buttons from bands I've seen and I put those on too. The buttons go in rotation and I've been wearing it for almost 2 years now.
(NB: Because I'm shameless, I'm just going to mention that I'm single, so if any confirmed bachelor out there sees this and happens to be passing through the Baltic states anytime soon, check the rest of the photoset and drop me a line! My hair has been tamed and I've purchased a wider wardrobe since these photos were taken, so fear not!)
The most recent photo of me on my Flickr page is from 2006, and I've posted it here before, but, aside from some different jewelry in my earlobes, I still look about the same. ≡ Click to see image ≡
amro, that may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about my appearance. (I like the new shorter hair, by the way--it frames your face really well.)
You absolute ARSEHOLES! No, not you bunnies, my company's corporate firewall that has now, apparently, blocked Flickr's "contacts" pages as being in some kind of new "personal pages" category. WTF?! I'm going to have to wait until later to post one. Sweet Jeebus.
Thanks, bp. As it happens we’re hoping to wrap up post-production, within the next week or so, on a little project I’ve had going for almost two years now. Look for “Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash – The Bob Stinson Story” to hit theaters sometime around Easter. (Fingers crossed!)
At the risk of jinxing things, I have to say that I’m pretty psyched. I was able to get my dream cast: Crispin Glover is Bob (of course), Mindy Cohn does an amazing job as Paul Westerberg, Lance Bass plays Tommy Stinson, and at the last minute we were able to get Scott Baio to play Chris Mars. (I owe you, Scott!) Our supporting cast is incredibly strong, too: Hüsker Dü is portrayed by Forrest Whittaker (a smokin’ Bob Mould), Winona Ryder (Grant Hart – she doubles as Dave Pirner, too!) and Keanu Reeves as Sportin’ Greg Norton (his performance is truly a revelation). Plus we got some pretty bitchin’ cameos (look for Bruce Villanch and Queen Latifah as Ronnie and Nancy Reagan), and Joey Shithead from DOA wrote a hell of a score for us. We’re still working on getting a soundtrack album released; the guys from Otto's Chemical Lounge are pretty tough negotiators.
Holy Crap crush-onastick! That's an awesome photo, and you are quite the hottie. Plus being game to sitting on that nasty looking ledge in your nice clothes...
Actually there are a few that I think are hotties here, and they pretty much know who they are.
BP, both your photos are great. I've wondered how infra-red would work in the Holga, that really looks fantastic. I must try that.
I think the vintage photos are my favorites. Matching Mork from Ork shirts, looks of jealousy and smugness with Star Wars costumes... awesome. We should do a Vintage photo Friday some time, including modern vintage.
The only one I've got of me. All the other ones have been killed by failing harddrives. There may be a moral in there, I dunno. There's a pic of me on dashiv's site, from the Vegas meetup, too. Mom's got all the baby pics. Have to get those, as I look fab in my dress when I was 1-1/2 yrs old. No, really. You'd puke. I'm working on getting a scanner. Wait for it. ≡ Click to see image ≡
(originally done for the MySpace Face thread from wayback.)
eekacat: thanks. That was taken at Fort Hunt in Virginia a few years ago. It was untidy, but there are pictures of me in much muckier spots taken that day. I am fond of that one because of the bow on my head, which was a sudden whimsical impulse.
Fort Hunt was a coastal defense fortification established on the Potomac in the mid-1600s. I think the concrete fortifications that remain date from the 1800s. Everyone said it was a military prison, but I don't happen to think that's true. I'm sure the internet would tell me, but I don't feel like navigating ask right now.
