Bah, humdung -- who is gonna draw the curtains, turn off the lights in the front and ignore the rugrats ringing the door bell tonight?
I won't be home; there are no children in my building; I don't think they open my building to the neighborhood kids. I'd give them candy and react appropriately to their costumes, otherwise, but I won't have the chance.

eamondaly: are there no pictures of your haunted garage?

Not me!

Of course, there's no chance that we'll get trick-or-treaters, because it's not celebrated here... But when I lived in the U.S., I usually offered sacrifice to the drooling maws of whatever munchkin ghouls made it to my door, then went out to party afterwards.

Turn up the hard core porn and go out.
Hone the fear of children all year round just in case.

Aw. You guys are the cutest, most lovable grumpuses since Oscar.

I'm going out trick or treating with a purple dragon and a teeny tiny knight with a drawn-on goatee. Babies with facial hair---FUCK YEAH!

crush: no, we ended up bailing on the haunted garage. Half the neighborhood kids had a cold, and I had to deal with a work crisis.

Big fun tonight, though: the re-appearance of Mr. Table! I'm sure I'll end up posting some pics and video-- someone needs to start a thread!

(Why did I read that as "a drawn-on goatse"?)

Kind of isolated where I am; 23 residences (including 5 tiny apartments and a dozen mobile homes). I know there are at least 4-5 juveniles around here but nobody came T-o-Ting last year. Besides, I am a recovering chocoholic and have not acquired ANY candy this season. I'd say I'm going for my "30 day chocolate chip", but that doesn't sound right at all!

Last time I lived in a neighborhood that got trick or treaters, my housemates and I gave out circus peanuts.

Man were those kids pissed off.

I generally keep the porch light off and dim the lights at the front of the house. I don't get many trick-or-treaters, and over the past few years they've mostly been teenagers. (Which makes me want to yell "GET A JOB!", but then my house would probably be egged.)

I think I'll buy a bag of candy, though, since I'm having company. Don't want to make a bad impression. (Or maybe I mean an "honest" one.)

When we lived in Madison, our house was right downtown, so there were no children in our neighborhood. In eleven years, we had one, so I haven't bought candy in years.

In Portland, in my new neighborhood, the neighbors tell me they go through about seven bags before the teenagers start showing up. So I've got eight bags ready, and when it runs out, I'm done. I'll go play Wii games on the lower level after that and ignore it until it's time to go out to Nosferatu.

Happy Halloween!!

Oh, I'm all excited. I have the candy ready and I ordered a pizza and we'll see if there are any trick or treaters in this neighborhood or not. Probably not a whole lot - Asheville is despicable; they drive their kids to a couple of specific wealthy neighborhoods to trick or treat. Bah humbug to them but it doesn't matter - I love Halloween! And I'm going out in three hours anyway.

Oh! I should go pick up candy corn!!

We're just having a scary movie night. No time for costumes this year, no party to go to, and no trick or treaters, since we face the back yard. Of course, My landlord's doorbell upstairs will probably be ringing like crazy... maybe I shout rig something scary to happen out of the vents that face the front.

What are those called, anyway: little mesh covered vents in the crawspace? Our crawlspace is a whole room, with the laundry in it.

MGL - that's what we do. Order a pizza, put our feet up. Lots of kiddies in my 'hood been by already. Hardly any homemade costumes anymore.

Some of my co-workers were in costume. If any customer asked for help I said that the name tag around my neck was a Halloween costume.

I'm at work (of course), but Science Girl set up all her decorations today and filled the candy bowl. It's kinda hit or miss in our neighborhood - some years we don't get any kids, and some years we run out of candy. I think on average we get about 5 - 10, which means I'll be eating way too much chocolate in the coming weeks. Urgh.

Success! 28 pounds of candy distributed.

Just got off the phone with Science Girl - not one trick-or-treater showed up this year. She didn't even hear any groups of kids walk past the house.

I feel bad for her, because she went to a lot of effort to put up her spider-web things and pumpkin lights so people would know we had candy at the ready. Plus, now we've got all that chocolate around the house. Ungrateful little house-apes...

We never get kids. At the last place we got maybe a dozen on a good year, but this place- none. My neighborhood has a lot of residential, but it's small groupings of two or three streets, separated by a commercial block that's primarily bars. So not exactly where parents want to be taking the kiddos.
That, and my block is all retail and businesses with second story apartments above some- no actual houses.

28 pounds of what?

Snickers (fun and snack), Twix, Heath, Dots, Tootsie Rolls, Dum-Dums, M&Ms (peanut and plain), and a bag or two of something else: I was in a box at the time and didn't see everything the missus bought.
