Peter Sagal's new book sounds hilarious. He is the perfect smart-but-innocently-curious guy to report on some of these things and I welcome his calm, bemused viewpoint. The Fresh Air interview is fun.
Yep, sounds amusing. But tell me, am I missing something in this quote: Peter Sagal, a mild-mannered, Harvard-educated NPR host—the man who put the second "L" in "vanilla"—decided to find out if it's true.

Does putting "the second 'L' in 'vanilla'" actually have a clever joke embedded in it? That I am missing? Because, if pushed, I might have said "puts the 'nil' in 'vanilla'" or even the "ill" - or something... but, really, I would have just come up with a better way to make a "vanilla" joke. Or, I'm stupid, and just didn't get it.

Hm, I don't get that either. Both your jokes are better, IMO.
