Recommend me a mouse Unabashed self-linkage to AskMe in hopes of some help.
I can't recommend a gaming-specific mouse to you, but it looks like Apple's Mighty Mouse works with PCs. I didn't trust the thing at first--like many of Apple's recent peripherals, its design is a little odd--but after a little while with it, I think it's the best mouse I've ever used. It's not obvious from its appearance that it's a four-button mouse, but it is--touch-sensitive left and right click; clickable scroll ball; squeezable sides. And the scroll ball has 360-degree capability.

It won't have the same functionality in XP as it does in OS X, I don't think. But still, Google "mighty mouse pc" and see what reviewers say.

I hate coming in here and recommending an expensive mouse, but I LOVE my Logitech MX Revolution. It fits my hand very well and moves very smoothly. The scroll wheel must be on an actual ball bearing, because it'll spin forever. I bought a second one to use at work (and it was smoking deal--$40 at woot.com).

I can't recommend a mouse as I'm a total Wacom tablet girl. Better for my Photoshop work and cuts down on carpal tunnel stress.

Four button mouse? Cool. I'll google that.

That does sound pretty nifty mull. And I've got a Wacom too, miss lynnster. Great for photoshop, bad for games. :P

I ditched my mighty mouse for a basic Microsoft optical mouse.
It really is the best mouse out there. IMO.

Not exactly a mouse, but the Logitech Marble 4-Button Trackball deserves some attention as a laptop input device, if for no other reason than trackballs have a long history as rugged, surface independent input devices, and that Logitech has done a great job engineering a product equally adaptable and programmable for left and/or right hand operation.
