So, I'm sitting on the porch, →[More:] drinking beer and listening to my iPod Hi-Fi on shuffle and it kicks into Bruce Springsteen's 'Sherry Darling' one of the Boss' most unabashed good-time rockers when I look over onto the sidewalk and see about 15 people walking up towards Ditmars Blvd. all dressed in black. and then I remember: there's a funeral home on 24th avenue one block away. I quickly paused and shuffled to the next song: "Good Golly, Miss Molly" by Little Richard, equally inappropriate. Oy.
(This happened to me once before. I was in my car running errands and stopped at a light when a funeral procession rolled through the intersection forcing me to wait. What was blaring from the oldies station as I sat there? "Good Thing," by paul revere and the Raiders. Let's hear it for irony.
