Best Things About Owning My First-Ever Mp3 player... [More:]

1. John Prine songs now come delivered straight into the middle of my head at any moment.

2. Everything I do and everywhere I go now has an amazing soundrtack, which always changes and which also changes how I feel about eveyrthing I do and everywhere I go.

3. I'm now convinced that the Shuffle Feature is some sort of hidden symbolic language that the Universe is using to help me figure stuff out. A random, musical Ouija Board with monster beats and sudden segues.

All this is not news to anyone else.

I remember my first MP3 player. And my second. Then the iPods came [I've bought 8 -- still have 3 -- a 2nd gen nano for the gym/running; the iPhone for day to day; and an 80GB I don't use much anymore]. It is a sick, sick disease.

My first mp3 player.

I now use a cheap but solid little player from Truly, the mp313x. Does lots of stuff the ipods don't like record from line-in, record from radio, user-replaceable battery, LED backlighting for long battery life, expandable memory via SD slot.

Still don't want an iPod, but I played with an iPhone and I'm sorely fucking tempted to check out the Touch, just for awesome wifi access and portability.

Yup. There are two kind of people in the world today - those with mp3 players and those without. The divide is almost as wide as those with/without cars would have been in the '80s.

I have the feeling that this is my dog! || Wow, that's the lowest rating I've seen.
