What makes your skin crawl? Sand! Camera! I just saw someone on CSI put their fatty nice crime scene camera in the sand on the beach. Twice! Just the thought of a camera in the sand makes my skin crawl. UGGGHHHHH.
/does the willies dance around the room
I hatehatehateohgoditmakesmyskincrawlHATE it when a hangnail or ragged fingernail snags on nylon or wool. EEEEEE kill me now EEEEEE!!!!

Similarly, I hate it when I am putting on a (pullover) sweater and the material (particularly wool) touches my mouth or (worse!) teeth. So I suck in my lips and do it verrrry carefully.

I also hate it when my knees touch each other. Creeps. Me. The Fuck. Out. I'm a side sleeper, so I've slept with a pillow between my knees since I was about 14 (it helps with back pain, too).

I know, this is all weird.

Me too! It doesn't creep me out so much as I find it really uncomfortable. Also, one foot touching the other. Feels bad.

I hate the sound of other people chewing hard candy. I used to have a large tin of Altoids that i kept on my desk; I had to remove it because people were grabbing fistfulls (fists full?) and crunching them right there, nearly causing me to lose my shit and smack them with my stapler. So very, very unpleasant.

Also? Squeaking styrofoam drives me around the bend.

people with noisy chips bags in quiet movie theatres. not that it makes my skin crawl, necessarily. it just makes me want to stab the offender in the eyeball with an icepick... and that thought makes my skin crawl.

Maggots. Even the thought that something is past an expiration and might GET maggots, I throw it out. Just... ugghghghahhhhhh!

And also? Out of control back hair.

Oh, and knuckles cracking. I've really had to train myself to deal with that because it gives me instant chills up my entire spine.

People chewing gum with their mouths open. EW. And loud eating noises in general. I can generally deal with it when it's strangers, but if it's someone I know I find it more difficult, and sometimes have to find an excuse to leave the room. I wish I knew how to manage these feelings.

Mine is similar to scody's... anything that goes zzzzzt! across nylon or any kind of tight-woven fabric almost makes my eyes water.

My better half is almost pathological about the sound of styrofoam sqeuaking- he has to leave the room and let me unpack anything that comes in styrofoam. (Luckily fewer companies seem to be using it thanks to the fact that it's enviro-nasty.)

Second loud eating noises - I have to time my lunchbreak so I avoid this one dude that also eats in our lunchroom, otherwise I gag the whole way through my food.

Also seconding squeaking styrofoam. In fact, that would be my number one skin-crawling trigger. And it happens in our lab a lot. gah!

Metal scraping against metal---which is why I'm replacing my existing kitchen sinks with enameled cast-iron.

My mom gets it from the sound of cotton balls being pulled apart. I never even noticed that there was a sound of cotton balls being pulled apart until I happened to do it in her presence, and she did that "my skin is crawling" dance.

Just the thought of biting on a towel makes my teeth go all funny.

And the sound of people hawking up phlegm makes me heave.

Squeaking styrofoam drives me around the bend.

Just reading that made my skull hurt.

Fork tines getting stuck with another fork. A fork against metal (as in aiming for what's inside the pot and hitting the rim). Catching the fork on the metal bit inside the dishwasher while loading it. *bites tongue in anguish*

I hate all of those so much that I can't even explain them correctly. >_

Huh. The scrunchy face thingee doesn't work here.

I have the styrofoam thing also.
But I have a weird, kind-of-related one that freaks me out even more.
If you take your thumb and rub it against the side of your index finger knuckle quite forcefully, it makes this kind of dry, low-pitched rubbing sound that makes me cringe, same feeling as the styrofoam thing. It's also like that walking-in-packing-snow sound. I know this is weird.
And what makes it weirder is that it's self-inflicted. (It's not like I encounter a lot of people rubbing their fingers together.)

The tone on the emergency alert system and opening those pop-n-fresh Pillsbury cans. It must be something left over from when I was younger--a repressed Thanksgiving trauma perhaps. But I stay strong. If only to encourage the children.

Straws and related puckering sounds can give me terrible goosebumps. Not that I can't use a straw, but when there's a mishap, it messes me up.

I had a friend who had the cotton adversity. He just wrote it off as a weird quirk that he couldn't shake, until he had to go into the hospital, and mentioned to the nurses that he couldn't stand the sound of cotton being moved/pulled/whatever. He was deep under general anæsthetic and they had cotton in the room, and one of the nurses noticed his EEG and EKG rates jump like crazy when it was moved near him. Led us to believe that there is a frequency there that may just not sit right with some people.

Me, it's an odd one... if I'm sitting in the back of a car and two or three of the windows are open about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way, and the car's doing about 50kmh/30mph I find that there is a pattern in the way the air blows into the car, like it's in very quick bursts. That pattern really blows my inner ear - it's kinda indescribable... not a nauseating sound, more like battering pressure waves that almost stop me from thinking, like an aural epilepsy. Nutty, but there it is.

Ej, rhapsodie...my father would probably drive you two up the wall, he does this constantly and then spits.

I think hairy backs are disgusting too.

Jelly / Jello. UGH. I have no food phobias, with one exception, and that is anything gelatinous. I can just handle trifle, because the gelatin is locked up in sponge cake, but by itself, no thank you! It's entirely about the texture.

I can't stand open-mouth and loud eaters. And gum chawers.

I hate spitting, especially in public.

I can handle puke, feces, blood. Sputum is the most difficult.
