06 September 2007

Today, the annoyingly unsweaty, unharried office lady came down and told me that I had to try and rustle up 50 feet of dollar hardcover books from my carts, all with red binding (don't ask). After scoring various nooks and crannies for half the afternoon, I managed to find 8 feet. I'm working on the rest. Needless to say, this quest left me tired, dusty, frustrated and discombobulated. However, as I stepped off the subway, a song came on my iPod-"Do Ya"(streaming mp3) By the Move, a song who's power chords and exultant chorus never fail to lift my spirits. It's my musical emergy adrenaline shot and lithium all in one. What's yours?
scouring nooks and crannies, not 'scoring.' sorry.

Dude - anything by Jane's Addiction does me right every time.

However, lately, my fave song is There is a Mountain, by Donovan. And no, sorry, no MP3 linkee. Go to your card catalog and find it.

p.s. Hello. I'm glad you exist.

"50 feet of dollar hardcover books, all with red binding"

Sounds like David Lynch is in town making a movie.

I wish it were that interesting. According to the memo I got the shipping labels were for a hotel.

Lately it's been The Killers' "All These Things That I've Done".

Oh man, I have a few of those, and "Do Ya" is a good one. My neutron bomb of power pop/uplifting songs, though, will probably always be Big Star's "September Gurls."

I have a few. 'Hawaii' by the Young Canadians, almost anything by The Pixies, 'Castanets' by Alejandro Escovedo all immediately come to mind. Back in my angry shouty days it was Foetus's 'Viva Anything/Private War' that did it every time.

I kind of write or sing my own when I'm feeling down, to be really blunt. Does that sound really awful?
