This website gives you a tour around ballparks past and present. Loads of nerdy stats, info, changes in ballpark dimensions and capacity. Etc.
Nice! I of course like the section on Baltimore's Memorial Stadium. We used to park up on the hill above the stadium, in Eastern High's parking lot (for a few bucks less than the regular lots), or sometimes down by that funny little sports bar off 33rd with the blue and white door (maybe it was called the Blue and White or something clever like that). Kids would walk up to my dad and propose, "Watch your car for a dollar, mister," and if he didn't pay, the AM radio aerial would be bent when we returned. Memory lane.
While living in Philly, I spent many a spring and summer weeknight here. Such a ridiculously enormous stadium they could never raise ticket prices: bleacher seats at only $5 or $7, giant lukewarm beers for $4, and the chance to catch a hot dog launched by the Phanatic. A great way to hang out with friends, and sometimes the game was even good. I did get to see Curt Schilling in his early days there, which was exciting. Since we thought he was somewhat hunky we would sometimes peer down at him in the bullpen.
I also caught a great 4th of July game here.It went into extra innings and ended with fireworks - one firework exploded directly into the stands accidentally. And no one got hurt!
