Whining thread I hate my ears. Waaah.[More:]So yeah, I've had inner ear problems this year. Since all the doctors usually say to me is, "Huh! We have no idea why this happened to you. Not sure it'll go away." I tend to avoid the Ear Institute now because they really like to take my money but never help me in the slightest. About five days ago my left ear suddenly began to really ache and hurt though so I had to go BACK to the stupid Ear Institute to get checked out.

They had implanted a tube in my left ear about 6 months ago, and apparently the ear had healed up (it's supposed to) and the tiny tube had apparently become lodged in my eardrum and was causing friction. So they surgically removed it. And then they said, "Well, we should put that tube back in and do one on your right ear too as long as you're here." I said okay.

Thing is, my ear was already sensitive. So this whole thing hurt like hell even with anesthesia (I did my Tourette's victim impression), and it also affected my whole equilibrium so I ended up being fed crackers while I held my head between my knees to try to make the room stop spinning. I literally almost fainted after each ear was done. I was sweating and holding onto the chair for my life pretty much.

So flash forward a few days. My tinnitis is now actually LOUDER and my ears are popping every time I swallow. My ears are making me feel like I'm living with my head in a bubble. I swear to God I really really wish I could trade my ears in for a new pair, I just really don't like dealing with this all the time now. Sucks.

I sympathise. I used to have problems with my left ear, the Eustacean tube wasn't regulating pressure, and the pain from the resulting headaches almost killed me. My hearing remained bat-like, though.

I saw an ENT specialist, and, just in case it was realted to TMJ, a maxilla-facial specialist. In the end I was given some strange exercises to do which involved contorting my jaw and tongue, whilst holding my nose and 'blowing' out my ears. It cleared up, mostly.

A few years later I learned to scuba and was worried about the pressure under water but it wasn't an issue, and nor was being in a plane.

There's few things more horrible than earache or ear pain, so I wish you well and hope it all gets sorted sooner rather than later.

My ears have been bothering me a lot this past week, which sucks, because it's the last week the pools are open for the summer, and I haven't been able to take advantage of it. Bummer!

I was about to waltz in here to proclaim how much I hate my nose. Forget that.

(((((((hugs Miss Lynster)))))) What an ordeal. I'm so sorry. My father only has tinnitus, no tubes or surgery or fainting, and it's torturous.

I'm hoping you're feeling better soon.

Oh, sorry Miss Lynnster. I didn't mean to usurp your whine about ears. I saw whine in the title and thought I could vent a bit on my own issue. I apologize for not saying sorry about your ears first.

So so sorry Miss Lynnster! Ears are the WORST! Well, ears and mouth- you just cannot dissociate from them like you can a sore extremity. And nausea- horrible! Worse than pain, imo.

I'm so sorry to hear about your bum ears! For years I've had problems with a recurring virus in my middle year, so I really REALLY understand about the equilibrium thing.

And there must be some bad ear karma going around, because it's actually been bothering me a bit for the past several weeks.

Poo.

Oh, you can whine about your own stuff. It doesn't have to be all about me! :)

Every night (well, maybe every other night) when I lay down, my left ear itches. Like crazy. It itches so bad I want to put an ice pick in my ear to scratch it. Grr.
