As I was unpacking one of the myriad boxes of discount used books to stock the dozen or so clearance carts (that's my job, among a few other duties), I discovered this tome. I guess some bodice-buster hack is also a Zevon fan. Did I buy it? Do you have to ask?
Not likely a Zevon fan, more likely an unrepentant plagiarist.

Eh, all my years working in bookstores have made me suspect that all those bodice-buster auteurs are actually guys named 'Mack,' cranking out softcore lit-porn at a page a minute with a beer on the desk and most likely classic rock radio on in the background. Maybe the Zevon was playing and the author said 'Hey..'

Only thing is... now that you've bought it, you have to read it. And do a book report. And post it here.

There's not enough porn, soft-core or otherwise, in a Harlequin Romance to bother with.
Not that I've ever read one. Nuh uh, not me, no way!

This one was actually a 'Silhouette Romance,' for what it's worth. I wonder if a whole genre of Zevon Romances could be produced: Carmelita? I'll Sleep When I'm Dead? Excitable Boy?

It has potential.

I don't the romance market is ready for lycanthrophilia, sir.

Ya never know.

Ah-oooooooooooooooh . . . .

Pedantic point possibly, but bodice rippers are one genre, bodice busters quite another. You appear to have bought a bodice ripper, jonmc.

Dude, the occult romance/erotica subgenre is huge at the moment. It's mostly vampires, but I'm pretty darn sure I've seen more than a handful of "oh my savage werewolf love" books.

I saw one titled Mitch Takes a Wife the other day, which I felt took all the fun out of it. Although the cover appeared to depict a hunky chef and his buxom new assistant, with him dipping his finger into some whipped cream, which leads me to believe the book contained at least a little food play. Those peaks were mighty stiff, let me tell you.

Jon, I'm sure you'll be sending it along to me after you're done.

I'll send my copy of Cherry Ames, Dude Ranch Nurse.

Bitch plugged an Emma Holly book a while ago...and a well-known poet's daughter writes them too. Full disclosure--I used to read that line of Silhouttes in middle school (and there are a few romance authors I still follow); they're called Intimate Moments for a reason.
