Pips is in the kitchen, making baked beans on toast with extra sharp cheddar. I feel very British. Fab, gear, ay wot guv'nor. (we are using British made vegetarian beans as my research showed that American pork-n-beans, while great as an accompaniment for weinies, is not acceptable in this recipe).

I hate those carnivorous beans. They always bite me on the tongue. Vegetarian beans are much better!

Sounds yummy. World Market sells the Heinz beans in that light tomato sauce that the Brits eat. I buy them whenever I'm there.

The best baked beans for barbeques and such are 2 big cans of Van De Kamp, or Van Kamp's, beans mixed with a box of brown sugar and topped with bacon and baked. They're heavenly. My old boss used to be married to a Van De Kamp bean heir. They had so much money, all of their French poodles had braces.

I hate English baked beans, they're unbelievably sugary. I like soup beans and ham served over cornbread, a dish I'd never eaten until I went to Ohio. Heaven in a bowl.
