Askmecha: Wedding Mix I'm putting together a mix for a wedding on the beach (in Jamaica). Please suggest good wedding music that is fun and light hearted.

I miss you bunnies
A good song to get people up and dancing is Lionel Richie's "All Night Long", it has a (fake) reggae feel to it, as well as the chorus urging people to party all night long.

Congratulations, ramix!!!! My favorite upbeat love song is "For Once in My Life" by Stevie Wonder. It's so jubilant! Mr. rossi has always been partial to "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice" by the Lovin' Spoonful. And then there's "Baby I Love You" by Aretha, which is upbeat, dancable and sexy.

As for just generic, upbeat music I can't sit down when I hear Jungle Boogie, Come On Eileen or Groove is in The Heart.

"Sing a Song" by Earth, Wind, & Fire
"Sweet & Dandy" by Toots & the Maytals

Whose wedding? Are congratulations in order?

And ethylene is Asian? I always imagined her as looking like a dark-haired pre-Raphaelite painting.

But asian.
heh.
i wish you could make the Bunnystock hop, mats, but i am alternately thinking of a left coasting instead.

Ya gotta add my new stubborn belly fat and swampy layers as well. i'm not gonna kill myself to get all hot for people who are suppose to like me for my non fleshy being.
i may do something to my hair, though. Unless we need it to carry water or ropes.

And much bigger boobs.
i will be finally investing in new bras JUST FOR YOU.

eth, Ghana rocks! And no, it won't be strange at all. Expatriates of all stripes make up at least 2% of the total population, and it's seeing more and more tourists every year from all over the world. So go! You'll have a blast, and if you need any contacts, just lemme know!

Matildaben, busted! I was trying to make the question as generic as possible, but your Nancy Drew skills outed me! See above for the details.

Keep the music coming...!!

Sneaking off a wedding on us?
i'm combing the music files now.

Everything i have has a hint of loving someone despite their times of asshattery-- that doesn't seem good enough.
Got any random details to focus on?
Is the honeymoon in Jamaica? Is there a registry?
Spill it, sister!

eth, the honeymoon is also in Jamaica. And we're registered at Target and Macy's (but really we dont need anything from there, i just put it up coz people kept bugging me!) Ya know what would make the awesomest present? If all you bunnies would show up for the wedding!

i'd do it.
Weird asian chick shows up? That's me.

Throw a Van Morrison in there somewhere. My wedding song was "Jackie Wilson Said" - non-traditional. "I'm in heeeavan, I'm in heeeavan, I'm in heeavan, when you smile (do do do do do de de do de de do). Other options available. Give the body of work a listen. (If that might be your thing and all. It's your wedding.) Might want to avoid "I believe I can fly" Oh, yeah, um YAAAAY!

"Wonderful World, Beautiful People" by Jimmy Cliff. It is physically impossible to be unhappy while listening to this song.

"Marry Me" by Drive-By Truckers (it is my goal in life to work this band name into every MeCha comment I make). OK, it's kinda "rawk" and the lyrics aren't exactly...um...uplifting, but after several mai-tais, who's really listening to the words?

And instead of "I Believe I Can Fly", flip the script and play "I Can't Fly" by Dr. Dog. No, don't. I just listened to the song and it's waaaay too droopy.

And of course any wedding mix should include the song "Stupid Marriage" by The Specials. :)
