I saw Hugh-Fearnley Whittingstall eat them raw... and Ray Mears burn it in a fire for a few seconds [which takes the sting right out].

Nettles actually make a very nice tea. I've known people to eat it like spinach--all of the sting gets cooked out of the leaves--but I can't bring myself to eat it.
