Responsible, well-adjusted parents raise a tanned and manicured future meal ticket. It's a heartwarming story.
Oh wow. Yeah, that totally warmed my heart....

WITH RAGE AND BILE.

"We’re a good-looking family — she can’t help being good-looking."

The length of time it took this dial-up connection to load the picture of the mother led to a very delayed and very funny punchline to this story.

My, my, muddy, such hate! Where's your sense of diversity?

This is horrible, terrrible, and disgusting, yes, but WTF is up with this:

Sasha’s photographs eerily echo those of murdered American child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, who was aged just six when she was found strangled in the basement of her Colorado home in 1996.

Jayne has entered Sasha in several child beauty pageants and, seemingly oblivious of the frightening associations with JonBenet,

As if ALL child models run the risk of being strangled. ALL young girl models' pics "echo" JonBenet's.

Frightening.

Is it just me, or is there something more than a little bit rude about telling a parent that their kid reminds you of JonBenet Ramsey?

On preview: I agree, Specklet. That part definitely weirded me out.

Speck, I thought that part was ridiculously gratuitous too. As if the story needed any sensationalism....geez.

(Especially since the consensus these days seems to be that JonBenet's parents had something to do with her murder.)

I hope she grows up dreaming of working for the highway department, or as a pipefitter or midwife or chartered accountant, somewhere anonymous and glamour-free.

I saw this kid on a documentary the other day and the child's attitudes were horrible, obviously learned from the mother. Looks are everything, fat people are disgusting, hair, clothes, makeup, the only thing that's important is what you look like because that makes you 'good', absolutely nothing, NOTHING, inside, except total spiritual bankruptcy ...

That child is going to be the most high-maintenance woman imaginable if she's this bad at the age of 11. It was so depressing to watch, but it was train-wreck TV, you couldn't NOT watch it.

“I just want to be pretty because then people will like me.”

I do hope she grows up ok. Damn.

Poor kid.

That's just effing stupid. Being pretty is not enough to get people to like you. You have to be pretty and easy.

I have a feeling she'll find out soon enough, jrossi4r.

Ico, you got me. I really expected a heartwarming story in there. . .

I'm pretty sure that kid is fucked up for life. Way to go, mom.

Oh. My. God. that is totally disgusting. What kind of fucked-up people do that to a defenceless child? I hate it when people try to get their kids to succeed on their behalf - the article says that the mother used to be a "glamour model" and I would bet that she wasn't very successful at it and is now trying to achieve vicarious success through her daughter.
