Last night's White Stripes show at Madison Square Garden rocked:
[More:]

Big red stage, Jack running around, playing about six different guitars, singing into about six different mics, Meg beating the drums, she's a little waterbug: I've never seen anyone sit closer to their drums and still look like she was just barely reaching the kicks, loud Loud LOUD, light show involving a couple disco balls and some bright strobes, plenty of verde in the Garden, a long break before the encores, or was it an intermission since they played about ten songs after the break, if you want a set list ask someone more with it than me, the opener was Nick Cave I think, the less said about him the better, maybe he was there to make the Stripes sound better by comparison, anyway, great show; I had another review written up with pictures and sound clips but I lost it on preview so I limited myself to one sentence here, but I could tell the whole story in one predictable, accurate, appropriate four-letter word: rock.
Sounds awesome!

I had earplugs, which helped quite a bit.

Today my office is moving from the 23rd floor to the 6th, so I don't have much to do. Woohoo! I'm tired.

Sounds fun! I've never seen them.

I'd still prefer them if they had a bassist. Call me stubborn.

I thought that, too, but you'd be surprised.

Here's an interesting article about mixing the tour. Jack has a real thick guitar sound that makes up for the basslessness.

All the roadies wore black suits, black shirts, black hats, and red ties.

Sweet! They're headlining the ACL Festival in September, which is basically the only reason I'm going. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Hugh!

Yup, exactly.

Sounds like a blast. But there's no beating Kiss at the Garden. Did they have make-up? Did they have flames? Did they have a ten inch tongue? I think not.

The NYT says it better than I did. Great picture, too. That's exactly what the show looked like. Reuters used a stock photo for their article, with Jack in a black shirt and Meg in a white one. Couldn't fool me. Nor could they fool anyone who read the first paragraph of the NYT article.

I forgot to mention, the best part of the show was when Jack White pledged himself as a knight in Satan's service and licked the makeup off of a burning ferret with his eleven-inch tongue.
