Kate Nash is wonderful. Evidence here This is so not where my life is at right now, but this singer is kick-ass, gorgeous and watch this space. That is all!
Not ever listening to radio and only having terrestrial TV, this is the first time I've heard Kate Nash. I can see why lazy journalism links her with Lily Allen, but there's not really any similarity other than the accent and some of the lyrical style.
Cillit Bang - The Sounds are pretty cool, I've got both their albums; they're a teeny bit too electronic-sounding for me, but still good when the mood takes.
I'm currently enjoying the debut album by Sara Bareilles, who isn't really like either of those two artists. But if you like piano-driven, very slightly jazzy, poppy stuff, then you'll probably love this. No UK release, but Amazon has it cheap.
There is a Lily Allen connection. From The Guardian last weekend:
"Lily Allen, at 22, is their* pioneering mentor, last year giving Kate Nash the sort of free almighty leg-up that used to cost marketing millions; in early 2006, Lily positioned her at No 8 in her "friends" list, Kate saw a fan-base duly flourish"
