What kind of newspaper do people think the New York Times is? Why is this the #1 search?
It reflects the dead hopes of 12-year-olds with parental protection and school firewalls.
I think it's gotta be the most frequent search just about anywhere. When I was a library page, "S" was always the volume of encyclopedia you found furtively mis-shelved, or left in an out-of-the-way carrel.
If I were in charge, the NYT search engine would randomly reward those searching for the term "sex" with a treasure trove of hardcore pornography. And I'd do the same with the "S" volume of encyclopedias in school libraries across the country. Maybe like 1 in 10,000 copies would yield a naughty bounty. It'll keep 'em interested.
It's a boring Establishment publication that's happy to support leftist identity politics as long as said activism doesn't threaten the deeper structure of the existing order.
