The story sounds really plausible, and a link at the bottom of the Wikipedia page connects to a map that illustrates where things were found that probably could have only come from Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan - like the sole of a woman's shoe from the time period that would have almost certainly never been worn by anyone who ever lived on the island during the time it was settled, as well as aircraft skin and plexiglas fragments. It would be amazing if they found anything after this long, but even a fragment of bone might have some use in determining the age, diet, and ethnicity of whatever remains they find, if not out and out DNA samples.

Funny, I was just explaining the Amelia Earhart story to my son just the other day. It would be neat to find out the real ending.
