So, I went to the store today, on a beer and cigarette run.[More:] I noticed they had a 2-for-1 deal on Marlboro Lights so I bought 'em. I got home and I saw that they were shorther than normal, they were '72's' as in 72mm as opposed to 100's. Whatta scam. Plus, how did they decide on '72,' why not 75 or 80? It's all a mystery.
I dropped by CVS or Wal-greens on the 4th to pick up a pack of Camel Lights while I was out on my night route. I had a $3 off one pack coupon that Camel had sent me a few weeks back in the mail.

Apparently whichever pharma-box I went to was having a sale on Camels at the time too. By the time my coupon was entered, my total price was $0.75 + six cents in sales tax.

Gotta love an 81-cent pack of smokes. Even if you do have to put it on your debit card.

From here:

"Cigarettes Size

All cigarette brands manufactured once came in at least one standard size: King Size. King size cigarettes are cigarettes that are of a regular length, 80 mm. This was the standard international size for all cigarettes, and you will not find many cigarette brands that are not produced as king size cigarettes. However with the changing tastes of smokers around the world, and the introduction of more effeminate “Slim” cigarettes, cigarettes have started to grow in length. King size cigarettes are still the most popular sized cigarettes around the world, however 100’s are becoming ever more popular as cigarettes that are deemed “more cigarette for the same price”. 100’s are cigarettes that are 100 mm in length, the extra 20mm added to the cigarettes in comparison to king size is not added only to the smoking part of the cigarette, but a small amount of length is added to the filter. Most slim cigarettes are 100 mm long. Slim cigarettes are cigarettes that are thinner than standard cigarettes. The added length is to make the cigarette “last” longer. The two most recent size additions are 72’s (Launch by Philip Morris within their Marlboro range of cigarettes) and 120’s. 72’s are cigarettes that are 72 mm long. These were produced smokers who do not smoke as much and as often as regular smokers. The reason for the loss of length on the cigarettes is to ensure that none of the smoke-able cigarette is wasted. 120’s are cigarettes that are 120 mm long. These were produced under that same principle as 100’s, however 120mm cigarettes are generally a little more expensive than 100’s. However when the calculation is done, 120’s generally work out cheaper per 1mm than 100’s.

Cigarette Packaging

Cigarettes come in two forms of packaging, Box and Soft pack. Boxed cigarettes have a harder protective packaging, which ensures your cigarettes are not crushed and broken. Soft pack cigarettes have a soft outer packaging, that can allow your cigarettes to be crushed or broken, but are much easier to carry around, as the do not bulge in you packet.

Variety of cigarette Flavors

Cigarettes general come in one of 9 different flavors:

Non-Filter: These cigarettes do not have the regular smoking filter that most cigarette varieties have. Non-filter cigarettes are also considered as the cigarettes with the highest tar and nicotine levels in them.

Full Flavor: Full flavor cigarettes are filtered cigarettes that have the most “Flavor” when smoked. Full Flavor cigarettes are also considered to have the second highest tar and nicotine levels.

Lights: Light cigarettes are cigarettes produced to have a more subtle flavor than Full Flavor or Non-Filter cigarettes. Light cigarettes were considered to have Lower amount of tar and nicotine than full flavor cigarettes, however recent research has proven that this is not the case.

Mild: Mild cigarettes a milder version of full flavor cigarettes, however they are deemed mild cigarettes due to the milder taste. Their tar and nicotine levels were deemed lower than full flavor, until recent research reveled that most cigarettes produce the same amount of tar and nicotine.

Medium: Medium cigarettes are the same as mild cigarettes, just a different name.

Ultra Lights: Ultra light cigarettes have the most subtle flavor of all cigarettes and are normally characterized by ting holes in the filter of the cigarettes. Their tar and nicotine levels are the lowest of all cigarettes.

Regular cigarettes: Regular cigarettes are cigarettes without additives for flavor, these cigarettes taste like a normal cigarettes

Menthol Cigarettes: Menthol cigarettes have a distinct mint taste when smoked.

Other Flavors of cigarettes: There are many other cigarette flavors available. These range from fruity flavors like orange and cherry, all the way to chocolate flavored cigarettes. Anti smoking groups claim that these cigarettes are specifically made to target young smokers."

'More effeminate' slim cigarettes?

Like Capri's? I smoked a few Capri cigarettes on vacation. I'm such a hypocrite.

From the wiki entry, "specifically marketed towards women as a way to increase or enhance their sexual appeal." Ha! Ha!
