Awwwww. That's totally wonderful.

One of my classmates was just talking about her volunteer work at an equine therapy center. They work mainly with autistic kids, and since the horses very obviously express their emotions and reactions, they can help teach the kids how to regulate or express themselves in ways that lead to the reaction that they want.

It's all very cool.

Archie sounds a lot like my old sheep dog Hairy. Kids just loved him and he soaked up the attention.

Aw.

Donations paid for the repairs. As Archie recovered, handmade get-well cards covered Casa Pacifica's walls and doors. The kids missed him. Home alone, the dog howled.

Murphy decided that work was the best medicine, and so Archie limped back to the office, his leg in a cast. And children who had known great callousness in their lives treated the giant canine with exquisite tenderness.

That line got me.

Yeah, I might have teared up a little there at the end.
