SynthEdit - my latest toy. Build virtual synthesizers from scratch. Even with knowledge of synth engineering, the learning curve is fairly steep. However, if you ever wanted to build a custom midi file player, this is the place to start. Also, it accepts VST plug-ins, a real plus.
For myself, I have always wondered how (if) controlling resonance with an envelope would sound. Now I know, and I love it.

Neat. Reminds me of programming for the FM synth on AdLib/SoundBlaster sound cards.

After you get the hang of synthedit - you should download max / msp (which is more user friendly - ha) or pd which is free. It's kind of the same thing, but different.

Ooh, fabulous, thank you. I'm still a csound devotee at core, but the more soft synths, the merrier.
