Today's lost letter. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Thorn. It sounds like th but looked too much like the letter Y and thus faded from use. Its chief surviving use in in old-timey names to wit: "Ye Olde Booke Shoppe"

A member of another site I visit calls himself a "Thorn Addict", spelling it, whenever possible, 'Þorn'.
