Themes end up being oddly restrictive sometimes, people get awful literal with themes for some reason. Something more abstract or moody like dano suggests might work.
Cool - I'll give it another day or so and then get the ball rolling. This is going to be a regular side to side horizontal emcee, with the theme of "destroy art garfunkel".
About the theme....I keed. Or as my daughter says, jay kay-ing!
I don't like the idea of being able to go back and alter previous pieces, if I'm reading that right?
That's absolutely my idea, although it would be up to the individual artist not to alter the previous piece too much.
And no removing elements from the previous piece, just the freedom to add a little bit...
And each initial piece should be kept uncluttered enough so that successive artists can add just a little...
The Bros. Hildebrandt (twins) often work somewhat this way (although with much more initial planning), with one starting on each side of a canvas then painting towards the center.
Just imagine a bunch of people painting a huge wall mural. One starts off with a small section. The next can see and follow the initial direction and can add a little to the previous artist's work, but not too much.
And each successive artist takes the piece in her/his own direction...
So there's much more direction and cohesiveness, but still the spontaneity and organic quality of not knowing the road till it's travelled.
