Sopranos Finale - Spoilers Inside! [More:]

Meadow was whacked in the Sopranos finale.

1. The tension in the closing moments of the Sopranos finale was centered around Meadow. Can she find a parking space? Does she even know how to parallel park? Is she going to get hit by a bus?

2. The last shot was looking at Tony from Meadow's point of view, and the screen going black and the sound cutting off were when she got whacked.

2a. Since the final shot is not from Tony's point of view, it can't mean that he's the one that got whacked.

3. It's like in III when Michael Corleone's daughter gets shot. David Chase has made repeated references to the Godfather movies, including the regrettable third movie with Silvio's frequent recitation of "just when I try to get out, they pull me back in." It's the final Godfather homage.
I know this is just speculation based on the black-out (and I have my own theory about it!), but I'm not sure folks who haven't seen the finale will appreciate what appears to be a huge spoiler on the front-page.

Tim Meadows was on The Sopranos? Get outta town!

I edited the post, kirkaracha - if you want the wording changed let me know.

So I have never watched an episode of the Sopranos. Ever. But I did swivel around in my computer chair and watch the last 10 minutes of the ender with my husband (a huge fan), because I thought people were going to get whacked and I wanted to see how it would happen. I did notice that the point of view kept switching from him to someone else to him to someone else to him, etc. At the moment the screen went black, the point of view was ready to switch back to him. So I think he got whacked. Because I want to believe that he got whacked. The most horrible, cringe-inducing voice EVER. God damn. I could never have watched that show, not with that voice.

I haven't read this - just jumped to the input box. But, if this actually happened and you've posted a massive spoiler to the front page, I'm going to be mightily pissed off. It's going to be *months* before this hits the UK and I really, really am trying to avoid any mention of The Sopranos.

Dude, I can't believe you posted such a huge spoiler on the front page. Sorry, but that was an idiot move.

Specklet, are there actually people (who are not sequestered) that have NOT heard how it ends?

I have never watched one episode, but I pretty much get the jist.

Yes! Me! It's not in the UK (and won't be for months) and I've been avoiding things like Google and Yahoo! news along with anything even vaguely Sopranos-related. I don't know (well, didn't, dammit) know anything about the finale and don't want to.

Almost everyone I work with, not to mention my own boyfriend, are tying remain spoiler-free (which means I've barely gotten to talk about the ending at all!). And even though I think some of them may have gotten the general gist from the headlines (i.e., that the ending is ambiguous in terms of what happens to Tony), posting "MEADOW GETS WHACKED!" isn't ambiguous, and anyone who hasn't watched the last episode has no way of knowing whether or not it's something that happens at another point in the episode.

Sorry, everyone.

i think the show was always about the everyday aspects of family and its incipient drama, which at times it got to a T, so any sudden mob related bits were as disruptive and abruptly disturbing as they would be if they broke out in the middle of dinner anywhere to most anyone.

But i like to think that the guy who went to the bathroom at least took a shot at Tony.

i had this emotionally horrifying dream from the view point of Carmella of watching how things might all unfold the night before it aired, so i was all full of dread and tension anyway.

I think Tony was a damned soul, drifting through limbo.

Okay, it's taken me 13 months to finally see this and, WTF, Meadow did not get whacked. I've lived with this post for thirteen months and for what? NOTHING! Sure there was tension and an implication that Meadow was going to be involved in something, but that was it.

Specklet and I have just watched it and both agreed that the ending sucked. I knew that it ended abruptly, but wasn't expecting it to be as abrupt as all that.

In no way am I bitter!
