I'm tired of people asking me who is going to win the next Presidential election It's more than 16 months away! No, I haven't decided who I'm voting for yet.
Huh. I had in mind you were non-USian for some reason, grouse.

I like Richardson. I'm scared of Fred Thompson and of Republican actors running for office generally. They always seem to win.

I think I'm going to decide who I'll vote for based on some random thing, like who wears the smallest shoe size, or who has the biggest dog, or who will give me a million dollars.

In the past, you could have just answered "some rich white dude" and been correct. This time around, just say "someone who's rich" and you'll be in the clear.

Why are they asking you? Are you some kind of psychic?

Yeah, I haven't even decided which primary I'm voting in yet (I'm currently registered "no party").

i know he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of picking up any single state in the primaries, and i doubt that he'll even be in the race come this time next year, but i really, really, really like mike. i'm ridin' the gravel train until it derails, baby!

i like richardson as well, but i predict that he'll be the top go-to guy when it comes time for the convention nominee (it'll be down to obama and clinton) to pick a running mate.

gravel/richardson '08. i can dream, can't i?

as far as the republicans go... when i looked at the field during the last debate in new hampshire, i asked myself "which of these men would you trust to pick up your mail and feed your cat while you were gone?" not a single one. i will admit to enjoying watching the other candidates squirm when ron paul is talking, but i can't even imagine him at the controls.

are there any viable green candidates who aren't ralph nader?

grouse is an American in Britain. To be honest, I (a Briton in Britain) would probably ask this kind of question, but I can see how it would get old fast. Makes me grateful for four-week election campaigns.

I don't know yet....I don't feel passionate about any of the Dems running now the way I did for Kerry. In the 2000 primary, I voted for the Green candidate running against Nader--the ballot had all the parties.

Ah, thanks matthewr.

I have a lot of trouble voting for president, it's like epic horror to me because the candidates are all very rich, and the rich are unknowable and practically supernatural.

matthewr has it. It's usually an honest attempt to get a conversation going. I don't begrudge this at all, but it always seems to be framed as if I could already KNOW somehow. There are worse things to have to deal with.

No. The rich are just like every body else except they have more money.

Maybe we're talking about different rich.

Or maybe we're both making facile, useless, and utimately false generalizations.

Either way, I'm voting Cheney for Prince of Darkness in '08.
