My ulnar nerve is twinging and aching. Am I going to die from carpal tunnel syndrome soon?
In my considered medical opinion, I'd say it's about a 50/50 chance, either it's some RSI, or you're developing super powers, we won't know until we do some more tests.
Just... someplace with couches. And heating pads. And possibly someone to carry me there, because I'm not entirely sure I can stand up.
Sigh. It's not actually as bad as all that. But I think doing lots of backbend-y things in yoga class may not have been the proper prelude to manhandling the vacuum cleaner around the apartment. Stupid strength vs. flexibility issues.
Ooh, be really careful with stretching out your back pain (I'm sure you know this). If it's a condition that suddenly cropped up and feels more like a kink than a twinge (hard to describe -- if it feels different from other back pain you've had) or if stretching makes it feel worse at all, you should stop stretching and get it checked out.
A buddy of mine stretched out his sore back before going to see a doctor, who told him that his stretching that day further ruptured a disk in his back that probably would have been non-surgically reparable. Now he's waiting until they get better at doing the surgery they say he needs, because he doesn't fancy a 20% chance of the repair not working out and being more painful than it is now, for the rest of his life.
Not to be all scary, more like a caution sign by a fenced-off rockfall.
Thanks, Hugh. I think it's ok, though -- it's actually exactly the same pain that was caused by a bad yoga teacher and fixed by a good yoga teacher a few months ago. I think it's the psoas, cuz my hip was feeling twitchy yesterday evening, too. Yanking the vacuum cleaner around just seems to have aggravated it.
This is what happens when one does housework. Stupid housework.
