Self link [More:]I’ve just made my first post to Projects, and I wanted to link to it here too, but it’s going to take up to 24 hours to get approved. I wanted to know what you guys might think about someone like me writing a memoir; I’m not well read, and my vernacular isn’t as polished as most of the peoples here, but it would be a dream come true for me if I could make this wish become possible. What do you think?
Don't hedge and hem and haw and wait for someone's approval or permission. Just get started.

Would you please break up the text into smaller paragraphs, or at least put a break between the paras that are there? I can't look at it - I get a headache.

Miko and iconomy are right, as usual.

Sorry iconomy, but it just sort of comes out that way; I try and go with the flow and it doesn't feel right if I put breaks in the paras. (Will try and put in the effort to do it in the future and see how it feels, but aren't there books with paras like these, with long streches without any breaks in-between?)

Thanks for the advice Miko!

I agree with iconomy. If you're writing for yourself and you don't care whether anyone reads it, you can ignore paragraphing. But if you expect anyone to read it, please break up the text. It will also help you become a more disciplined writer, pulling your thoughts together in a more succinct and powerful way.

Make it a book, make it 900 pages long, don't tell us who's speaking, and don't break up the paragraphs, and you'll be like William Gaddis.

or

Write as it comes, that's the easy part. Edit edit edit, then you can punch that shit up and make it readable.

but

Since it's a blog, and you're doing it publicly, disregard my advice.

because

If you're really writing memoirs, hold them close to your chest until they say exactly what you want them to say, otherwise you may as well be writing a blog.

It's a great idea and you have a lot to say, so do it as you will, good luck, and I'll read it, for sure.
