OMG I want this so much! [More:]It's not entirely clear from the photo, but this is actually an entire set of Cuisinart cookware, all the pieces of which nest and can be stored inside the stockpot, on account of how the skillet and saucepan handles are DETACHABLE. This is perhaps the greatest invention of all time, especially for those of us with closet-sized kitchens.

(On the other hand, $50 is pretty damn cheap for a whole set like this, which makes me a bit dubious about the overall quality of construction.) (And I would hate to have one of the saucepan handles detach itself when the pan was full of boiling liquid and I was trying to lift it from the burner.)
Detachable handles- AWESOME.

Oh wow...I want it too.

And I can't wait until this is actually manufactured!!

I have Cuisinart cookware, and although my handles are not detachable, I'm satisfied with the quality of construction for sure.

Pretty! But the only thing I hate about my current cookware set is that two of the pieces share one lid -- all the other pots have their own lids, but for some reason these two share.

And, of course, I tend to forget that, and they were the two I had already started to use last night before realizing I needed lids on both. It was highly annoying.

I imagine handles would be worse. I can understand the "space saving" idea being compromised by including extra handles and lids, but still...

But then I'd have to pull everything apart all the time! I so hate the noise of my Calphalon scraping against each other as I pull it out of the cabinet. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. I thought about putting in a hanging pot rack in the kitchen, but mine are too crapped up for public display.

I need to get married again. It's been 10 years. I need new stuff.

I've used "removable handle" sets like this before and you do need to watch out for the handles to make sure they don't unlatch or get gunked up with grease or food residue and give you a "false latch".

But it's cool to be able to have lots of pots or pans on the stove and no handles sticking out all over the place to get knocked over or grabbed. You only need two handles because you only have two hands, and rarely does one ever even hold two pots or pans at the same time anyway. You just grab whatever pan you need with the handle.

I currently use a simple, basic mess kit (copperclad in thin steel, folding handles) for all my cookware. Which is kind of like a compact set like this. I'd like to see a "home mess kit" concept done well.

The mess kit combined with a travel coffee mug, a few coffee flasks, a couple of cereal bowls, a (very sharp) pocket knife and a very small handful of silverware is the sum total of my dishes.

It's pretty damn awesome. Even if I let all my dishes get dirty its really quick and easy to clean up. No Teflon, neither. Teflon is bad. Bad for good cooking and bad for humans to eat.

Yeah, what I can cook is more limited, but that's good, really, because it makes it easier to stick to eating just veggies, rice, pasta, soups and stuff. I can do eggs and omlettes and such, and on that note the only thing I really wish that I had was a good cast iron skillet.

That rolling skillet is cute and interesting but goddamn scary. Teflon? On silicone? That can't stick very well. Teflon bad! Plain silicone is better, but I'm a total retro-convert to cast iron. Properly seasoned and used it's much, much easier than Teflon, and you can scrape and scratch the crap out of it with all the metal tools you want.

"too crapped up for public display"!?

It's cookware! You ever been in a professional, working kitchen? They beat the everloving crap out of just about everything except for the good knives.

Me, I get a little worried when I see a bunch of spotless, dentless cookware with no burn or char marks on it. "Hrm. You don't actually cook, do you?"

Good point, loq! Bad pots = good nutrition.

Yeah, but I'm often cooking more than two things simultaneously, especially if I'm having a dinner party. And I need to move from thing to thing, often quickly, to stir or taste or take it off the heat or whatever. Sometimes, of course, you don't really need a handle to accomplish that, but I generally need to at least be able to hold onto the pot to keep it from moving, and without a handle you'd end up having to use potholders, which I generally find to be a pain in the ass.
