Stressed! →[More:]I am due to take flight AA115 from London Heathrow to JFK tomorrow morning. It’s a scheduled flight and I checked the Heathrow website this morning and saw that today’s flight has been cancelled (the corresponding flight from JFK – AA122 – did not leave JFK last evening so there was no plane landing in London to fly back to New York today).

So now I’m really stressing. I spoke to the airline who said that tomorrow’s flight is set to depart as scheduled and said that the reason for today’s cancellation was ‘probably due to weather’.

Is there any way of finding out why AA122 was cancelled other than the non-information given out by the airline? I'm hoping it was a one-off but with all this hoo-hah around JFK the last few days, I'm not sure.

I meant to do with that pipeline terror plot. I was wondering if it's affecting flights.

Be diligent to find out why it was cancelled because if a flight is delayed due to mechanical or other carrier-caused reasons, you're entitled to more compensation according to Rule 240. According to this page, many airlines lead passengers to believe that a flight is cancelled due to weather when if fact it is probably something else that they should be held responsible for.

Okay. I should start reading the news again, because I didn't even know there WAS a pipeline terror plot.

Actually, I only skipped reading the news yesterday, I think.

It has been windy and rainy and terribly yucky in NY since last night. Still is, though I don't know if it's bad enough for flights to be cancelled.

If you guys are in the same weather system that we're in then there may have been thunder storms and maybe that's why the flight was cancelled. We had thunder storms off and on all day yesterday.
