Figures. The owner/famous dude of that channel was pretty funny-looking and all over the media after big brother (by funny I mean quirky) and he died recently waiting for a kidney. I kinda figured they were doing something to get attention to the lack of donors.

Is there anything on the web lately that ISN'T a hoax? Next thing they'll be telling me Alison the Pole Vaulter is a dude... (although THAT would probably be the hoax; oh, my head asplode)

Very good viral marketing on their part. They received free worldwide attention for their cause.

the problem with this sort of marketing ploy that i (personally) see is that it's basically a one-shot deal.

well that plus you risk alienating your patrons.

"We have only done this cry for help because we want to solve a problem that shouldn't be a problem," a producer told a news conference after the show.

Aren't all kidneys out there already being used by other folks?

Sure, lonefrontranger, it's a one-shot deal, but they stirred up the debate and that's definitely worth something. And I don't think audience alienation is such a big issue, considering BNN's reputation as "punk rock" rebellious type of network.

And dabitch, that's true but hardly relevant, is it? Right at this instant, someone will be dying with a healthy set of kidneys and without having specified their donorship wishes.

Well, you can get by pretty well with just the one. The other- well, it's not even much of a back up, because when one gets diseased, they both do. Having a spare IS handy if you munch one in a car wreck or knife fight or something, though.
