Three one hit wonder love songs from the 70's.
Funny. Elvin "Fooled Around" Bishop is one of the has-been performers at the upcoming California MidState (Don't Call Us County) Fair. (Although everybody knows he wasn't the singer on that song - don't you?) Anyway, thanks for the sounds, arsey.

Never heard that wendell, do tell more.

Yeah, Elvin's a guitarist, although he does some singing himself. The vocalist on "Fooled Around" is Mickey Thomas, who later went on to destroy what little credibilty Jefferson Starship had left - that's him on "We Built This City", along with Grace.

Actually, I'm happy to see that Elvin is out touring again. he pretty well shut down for awhile after his ex-wife and daughter were murdered back in 2000.

Was anyone ever convicted in that case?

Bernie Taupin had a hand in "We Built This City" and I think that was not Jefferson Starship but the sad, sick, finale, Starship.

I seem to recall that there was at least one conviction, but I can't seem to find anything on the web tonight.

As far as Jefferson Wheelchair goes, Thomas came in when Marty Balin left, so he'd been with the band for some time (a couple of years, maybe?) pre-"WBTC".

Here we go - three convictions, actually.

A small comfort at least.

Here's a bio of Mr. Bishop. I'd forgotten that he'd been with the Butterfield Blues Band.

I should up some Paul Butterfield Blues Band soon.

While I like the original version of “Magnet and Steel” OK, I really dig this cover version by Matthew Sweet. It was produced by Lindsey Buckingham, who also plays guitar and throws in some mighty fierce backing vocals, too.

Wow, I did not know about that murder. Poor Elvin.
