Ladies and Gentlemen, Sitting on my porch, bent but unbroken (along with birthday boy Hugh Janus) , is none other than the mighty Joe Famous, who says hello and thank you for the cards and gifts. He'd have posted this himself but he cant recall his password, but we're having a good time drinking beer and hanging out.

Hooray for Joe Famous, whom I've never met, but whose long road of recent months, I do understand. It's hard to describe the process of dropping out of the world on a medical emergency, and traveling a slow, painful road back, to rejoin it. You get too familiar with all the limitations and facilities of a hospital bed, which kind of becomes your world, and your jail, for a while. Then you "get" some physical therapy, and perhaps you secretly come to hate the very people you simultaneously come to love for trying, so hard, to bring you back.

And, eventually, if you're really lucky, you slowly rejoin the world, and friends welcome you back, on a porch in Astoria, and from wherever they've followed your progress.

Welcome back, indeed, Joe Famous, from a fellow traveler of a different, but similar, long road. One foot in front of the other, bro, 'til you're all the way back!

I was going to post something very similar to paulsc's comment, having also been through that whole deal.

But yeah, soon you'll wake up, go about your day, and at some point you'll realize you haven't thought about the injuries at all, and then you'll realize it's because they're not bugging you anymore.

Good luck... things can only get better from now on!

I hope I get a chance to meet Joe next week when I'm in NY. Any help NYC bunnies can give on this would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just for a quick coffee or something, if he's not up to coming to the meetup next Tuesday.
