The Lost Season Finale [SPOILERS] Come inside, open a Dharma beverage, and let's discuss the island-shaking ramifications of the latest episode of a series that will last longer than many of our relationships...
If watching Lost makes me shallow, I don't ever want to be deep.

Hurray for Hurley! And what was up with drug-addicted Bizarro Jack?

Big body count in this one. I counted 15, including "Naomi." All in all, a brutal but fairly satisfying episode. I'm not sure if Patchy dies after pulling the grenade pin or not.

I had thought those were flashbacks, until I heard (I wasn't technically watching this, my mom was watching in the other room) my mom say "...it's in the future." Was that obvious or was that only revealed when kate showed up at the end when they met at the airport?

And yeah whats his face totally died, or at the very least lost an arm.

It wasn't obvious until Kate showed up and Jack started pining for the island.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. And yeah, patchy must have died when he pulled the pin on that grenade. But the best part of the show was the "flashbacks" where jack was suicidal and addicted to pain killers, only to find out at the end that the "flashbacks" actually take place in the future, after they'd been rescued from the island. And at the end with his meeting with kate, he says that they never should have left the island. That echoes what ben said back at the island, something to the effect of "if you leave, everyone here will die." Foreshadowing FTW.

And what locke said, of course.

At the end of last season, I was convinced the island was Atlantis. At the end of this season, I think the island is Atlantis ... in a black hole. Or, put more succinctly, "flibblemorp furpygurp" is what my brain said to me when this show was over.

I loved the Hurley bit. As much as there was a nagging "where has Hurley been" for the past x number of minutes, it was awesome to see him with the van. One of those cheer out loud moments.

The Jack flash forward was neat (I caught it a little before he met with Kate), I just wish they would have gave us one last bit on the island.

It seems like the show is going to go in a Ben was bad, but Dharma (whom I'm assuming is on the waiting boat) is going to be worse.

It really seemed like Charly could have lived if he tried.

Loved it. I was really down on Lost at the beginning of the season, but it's really been firing on all cylinders the past few episodes. Good stuff.

They never showed who was in the coffin, did they?

No, the coffin is the most vigorously debated element over on the forums, oddly enough. From the "Lost Experience" play-along game, it appears that Dharma was going to biologically wipe out 2/3rds of the planet, which is definitely a bad thing. Patchy was such a great villian--I'm going to miss his nefarioius ways.

No more lost until January 2008. I will have to fill that gap with some other surprise filled series, or maybe read Dickens for seven months.

I almost posted a thread here last night, 15 minutes into the show, saying "It's Jack in the future!" because I just knew it. Honet, ask my wife!

But I didn't want to
a) spoil it for people
b) be a know-it-all
c) be wrong

What gave it away for me was the beard (he never had one in any other flashbacks,) how fucked-up he was, and finally the cellphone. Nerdy, I know, but it was a Motorola Krzr which just came out this year and they would never screw up a detail like that.

I liked the episode, but the ending was disappointing, as I bet next year is going to be all about flash-forwards to what people will become. And it will be all "is this the past or the future?"
Also I think it's going to focus on rifts between our heroes (obviously, with Locke being so into the island) and maybe sub-factions forming.

Hurley was great, for sure.

I had read an article somewhere that discussed how removing the "will they be rescued" tension would free the show up to concentrate on the Island's mysteries. So when Jack showed up looking all old and beardy, I figured that's what was going on. It makes sense and is a smart move on their part, I think.

And when Sayid snapped that guys neck with his legs, mr. rossi and I jumped up and whooped. I like when tv makes me whoop.

That's funny, jrossi4r.
My wife actually shouted, all excited, "Sayid!"

I also really liked the tender, bonding reunion shared between Rousseau and her daughter, as Rousseau stroked her cheek and softly asked, "will you help me tie him up?"
posted by chococat 24 May | 15:28
I also cheered Sayid. My wife was like, "Why did he do that?" and I was all "Because he's Sayid!"

goingtohellfilter: I implied in another forum that in the flash-forward, Kate and Hurley were married, and someone bought it. Heh.
