WOOT! I'm posting from my new linux laptop! →[More:]Based on this advice I managed to wrangle a decent old Thinkpad for about $250 and, after no insignificant amount of difficulties, finally installed ubuntu (first time installing linux, had to do the alternate text install because the gui one failed). And I'm posting this from that very laptop! Whee!

So, bunnies, just so you'll know, this is the first place I went upon realizing I was up & running & online . . .
