Vosges. The bars are good, but the truffles are unsurpassed. Recently, they've added ice cream; I may die.

Vosges are good, but I am constantly annoyed that their flavors aren't flavorful enough. The curry isn't spicy, the "wasabi-ginger" barely registers -- seriously, if you're gonna put wasabi in something, I better feel it.

But to answer the question: dark, as dark as you got.

I love chocolate, but I'm not much of a connoisseur. I like Lindt and Dove.

From the grocery store: Dove Dark, and I do adore the grainy milkiness of HErshey's.

High-end: Vahlrhona, or anything that comes from the chocolate shop near my house.

It depends. I love Cadbury's Dairy Milk, especially if it's been in the fridge. Likewise Cadbury's Flake. I also love dark chocolate, but the new dark Flake that recently came out is disgusting. I have never been so disappointed in a bar of chocolate in my life. Actually, that's a lie, I have been more disappointed than that - the first time I tasted Hershey's. Bleagh! Gritty, sugary, no chocolate taste whatsoever.

When it comes to boxes of chocolates, I prefer expensive dark Belgian chocolates with cream centres. If there's nothing else, I'll Ferreros, but I find them far too sweet for my taste.

Thornton's used to do a bar called a 'crispy fudge bar'. It was dark chocolate, with a fudge and rice crispy centre. But they stopped doing them :-( Apparently they didn't sell well. I ate as many as I could, but it made no difference. Bastards.

I keep meaning to try the snickers dark and almond, but I don't want to buy a whole bag. But I loooove FR.
And I love chocolate covered cherries. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

I'm not tied to a particular brand - but I like my chocolate dark - the darker the better. I've got a bar of Ghirardelli Toffee Interlude (dark choc. with toffee bits and carmelized almonds) open right now at my desk which is alright and a bar of Espresso Escape waiting on standby (60% cacao + finely ground espresso beans). Yum.

As for candy bars and the like, I love me some Coffee Crisp, Kitkat, Crunch, Turtles, Toblerone and After Eights - but I don't have a sweet tooth. Really.

I have to agree that Vosges chocolates are to die for. But I like only dark chocolate. Give me good dark chocolate with ginger or something spicy in it, and I'm happy. I'm also a fan of XOXO chocolate bars.

The Vosges truffles are more richly flavored than the bars, which I think have been toned-down since their launch.

My favorite chocolate brand is almost certainly Dagoba.

I don't know about for eating out of hand, but I make some amazing fudgy brownies out of unsweetened Scharffenberger. I'm a terrible cook, so I credit the ingredients 100%.

I was just reading that the consumption of dark chocolate has gone through the roof in the last ten years had never been particularly popular, but people have started to enjoy and look for it.

I credit that in part to sheer availability, driven by the likes of Whole Foods and health food stores. Small-scale producers started creating fair-trade, organic, and artisanal chocolate for a tiny niche market, and then as Whole Foods scaled and regular grocery chains followed suit with their crunchy-granola sections, more people were exposed to better chocolate. At the same time, dark chocolate has increasingly been touted as an anti-oxidant-rich health food, a better indulgence. So the megaCandyCorps had to get in the game, and thus we have M&Ms Dark, Snickers Dark, etc.

Apprently it's going to drive the price of chocolate upcause there's more actual cocoa in dark chocolate than in milk, so there's a greater demand for the raw ingredient.

Miko, it's the other way around, people get to call chocolate a health food now and excuse eating it by eating dark chocolate. i've always loved dark chocolate but i remember hearing about the future chocolate shortage over ten years ago so i wonder what's gonna happen.

Milk chocolate...I still eat Hershey's/Mars, but they taste waxy to me now.

I tried something different from my usual Milky Way and got some Belgian chocolate bars by Joseph Schmidt at the drugstore. A little more at $1.99, but worth it in my opinion. Tried the Milk w/Peanut Butter Truffle (delicious!) and the White Chocolate w/Pistachio filling. My all-time favorite, though, is probably the Mint Aero. Got some at the World Market store around the holidays but they're not in stock anymore.

Um, that kind of sounded like the answer to "what is my favorite candy bar?" more than chocolate, so I'll add that I really, really like Cadbury's fruit & nut. And I've been told that the US version doesn't even taste as good as the British one, so I guess there is something to look forward to. Well, that and foreign film festivals.
