Ah man, I miss lightning bugs! They apparently haven't crossed the Rockies yet.

Remember that kid in the neighborhood who used to smash them and smear the luminescent stuff on his arms? That kid was creepy.

The first time I ever saw them was on my first visit to Ohio in May 2004 (was it really three years ago?). Driving back from somewhere, George suddenly pulled over to the side of the quiet country road and there in front of us, covering several acres, was a field full of lightning bugs.

It was like a sky full of stars, brought down to earth just for us.
