If you had to eat the same thing everyday for a month... [More:]
Could you do it?

Of course you could, if you had to. But could you do it knowing your personality? I think I could do it.

My meals would be:

Breakfast -- Oatmeal, yogurt, orange.
Lunch - Turkey on wheat with lettuce, tomato, a little mayo and mustard, cup of Minestrone soup, apple.
Dinner - Chicken breast, broccoli, great northern beans, and a mixed green salad with balsamic vinagrette.

If I am going to do it, I'm going the healthy route and hopefully drop some pounds along the way.

Dinner would be the toughest. Chicken breast gets old quickly. If I seriously did do it, I would alternate fish and chicken. Or is that cheating?

It's a wacky question, but I'm feeling wacky.

What would your meals be?
breakfast: bloody mary, bagel with lox & capers, eggs benedict, hash browns, coffee
lunch:pastrami reuben sandwich(no russian, Nance's sharp & creamy mustard instead), fries, beer.
dinner: crab cakes, porterhouse rare, au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach, banana cream pie, beer, irish coffee

Yum to both.

If I were going the decadent route:

Breakfast: Two eggs, fried over-medium, French bread toasted, tomato slices, coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice.
Lunch: Chicken Cesar salad, another hunk of French bread, French onion soup, Iced Tea with lemon.
Dinner: Filet mignon, baked potato with butter and sour cream, fresh peas, salad, and coconut creme pie. Two Amstel Lights.

The question should read every day, not everyday. I'm sure it's not my only mistake.

If we're being serious (and not eating steak every night for dinner)

Breakfast: All bran with skim milk, half a cup of each, and tea. (it's what I eat for breakfast every single day now)
Lunch: mixed greens with avocado, goat cheese, tomatoes, carrots, chickpeas, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and a diet soda (pretty much what I eat every day)
Afternoon snack: grapes and water
Dinner: chicken breast baked with shitakes, onions and carrots. wilted spinach. brown rice. Glass of wine.

If I didn't have mr. gaspode to think of for dinner, I'd probably eat this menu at least 20 times a month.

Could I do it? Yes, of course. I'd be ready to stick forks in my eyes by Day 20, though, and quite possibly sooner than that.

I pretty much did this while I was weight training, I ate about the same thing every day for a couple years. Mainly chicken breasts, oatmeal, canned tuna and peanut butter. I did eventually get sick of the oatmeal though.

In a slightly different interpretation of the question, if I had to eat the same thing every day for 30 days, garbanzos would be my choice because I like them and the stuff you can make with them (mainly Middle Eastern - falafel, hummus, and curries like chana masala I guess) enough to eat that every day. For sheer versatility (if not taste appeal, in my case anyway) tofu could also work for 30 days.

Breakfast: Microwaved oatmeal with some unflavored yogurt and dried fruit and nuts mixed in. And a banana and a cup of really strong black coffee with honey.

Lunch: A large tuna salad on thick slices of toasted rye with extra mayo, tomatoes and lettuce, black olives, red onion, pepperoncini slices and capers, plus a bowl of gumbo -- the kind with andouille, chicken, scallops and shrimp, okra, tomatoes, corn, and bits of potato.

Dinner: A bowl of instant beef ramen and a Granny Smith apple, followed by a large glass of inexpensive red wine -- maybe a Charles Shaw Shiraz.

Breakfast: Coffee, milk, yogurt with Kashi cereal mixed in.
Lunch: Two small chicken soft tacos on 1/2 wheat tortillas with tomato, cheese, yogurt topping, salsa, and lettuce, and a green salad.
Dinner: 'Greek' salad of Grilled chicken, tomatoes, feta, cucumber, onion, romaine or mixed greens, pepperoncini, and green pepper, in lemon-and-olive-oil dressing, perhaps with a slice of chewy focaccia or ciabatta.
Dessert: Dark chocolate and raspberries.

I'm almost there already, just add a teeny bit more variety.

For a month? Easy. I'm practically 2/3 of the way there:
Breakfast: 1 Cup low-fat cereal with a banana and non-fat milk
Lunch: 2 slices low-fat deli meat with 2 slices of "lite" cheese on "lite" bread with mustard, 10 oz sugar free Jell-O, 1 fat-free Yoplait
Dinner: varied as all get out.

I could easily withstand 1 entree for a month of dinners.

Yeah, in January I pretty much only ate fried eggs, beef jerky, and trail mix.
