Well, I can hit the 11:00 show and pay half of that, fortunately.
Did Pixar run into some trouble? Is that why it took so long for Cars to come out? It was pretty good, but not worth two years' worth of (mostly underground) hype.
I just saw Cars for the first time on the weekend. While it was cute, it did nothing for me. I'm definitely glad I didn't pay money to see that one. Ratatouille on the other hand looks kinda cute and fun, exactly the type of movies I enjoy. I'm not sure why Cars didn't do it for me but I think that Ratatouille will.
I love how when Remy moves around, he's reassuringly anthropomorphic for a rat except for when he scampers or swims, which he does in a properly ratlike way.
I think Cars took so long, and met comparatively tepid response (outside little boys, who apparently love it) because it's hard to make automobiles cute and lovable. I mean, Toy Story's inanimate objects come to life had lots of character; beyond making the grill, bumper and windshield into a face, there's not that much you can do with a car.
Ratatouille looks fun. I probably won't make it to the theater (alas, I rarely see *any* movies in the theater these days) but I'll watch for it on DVD.
It's a bummer that my kid is too old for these kinds of movies now. My wife and I end up going to them by ourselves but they're always more fun when you have a kid to watch them with.
