This is good. (still working through it)

Sorry, BtGoG, but no concept squished so ham handedly into the visually rich conceptual space of another incredibly useful visual organization of facts is at all satisfying. I feel intellectually whipped, not gobsmacked, bemused, not enlightened, and mashed up, not mentally serenaded.

Color me acid (proton donor). But life is made of differences in atomic polarity, no matter this chart's deficits...

Good idea for a post, however.

That is very cool, though I wish whoever coded the page had made the page more user-friendly. Put a bunch of whitespace below the bottom row of the table so that the pop-ups didn't constantly resize the page down there, and maybe work out a way so that the page isn't wider than 1024 so it's visible on my screen all at once. (Though I'm sure it's beautiful on a nice Apple Cinema display.)

Another vote for cool. Out of curiosity, where does it fit on itself? (Is that what paulsc is getting at?). I'd have enjoyed a list of visualization methods, but this is far more intriguing.

Has anyone posted the "Look Around You" version of the periodic table yet?

I had some gast-flabber once. A big drink of warm salty water cleared it all up.

Has this been FPP'd? I think you'd get some very interesting commentary over there, with all the information specialists and graphic designers weighing in.

I think it's neat, if somewhat arbitrary. The 'metaphor' visualizations, for instance, are infinitely extendable depending on what metaphor you'd like to create.

Cool!

Is tomorrow's Photo friday theme 'Geometry'? || Long-time LA Times sportswriter transitioning from 'Mike' to 'Christine.'
