Job interview tmw →[More:]OK in my last job, my boss fired me because I couldn't live up to his impossible standards. I would rather just tell people that I was laid off due to a merger (there was a merger, but it wasn't the direct cause of my firing, it just made it that much more difficult to do my job.) I figured I could just say it was due to a merger because I have good references from former employers, but then I realized that he might want to call my last employer nonetheless, and I can't say "Don't call because I'm still working there and don't want them to know" as it already says on my resume that I'm not working there anymore. So I can't think of any other reason to tell him not to call the last place. So can anybody think of some other reason, or do I have to be honest, and how should I put it, etc.?
