Dog update for EJ. →[More:]
I have chosen a name for the new dog. And it's actually one of the names that I listed before so it shouldn't be a huge surprise.

I have named the dog Binky. (Death's horse) It's not that I'm overly fond of the name - it's just the name that fits the dog and the name the dogs responds to.

Binky continues to be 150% awesome. We had a breakthrough today as far as relations between Binky and Lulu (the dog I already had). Lulu let me give Binky a treat while she was in the same room without going batshit insane. YAY. They've been getting along fine and Lulu has mostly been submissive (which is good) but she was having problems with me giving Binky treats. She is hopefully over that issue. (It's an issue she's had since I got her last summer.)

At some point in Binky's previous life somebody did basic obedience training with him. He knows sit and down...he also walks great on a leash (loose leash most of the time except for if he sees a bird.) The shelter told me he was more than a year old but less than two years...I'm guessing sometime in the first year he had some quality time with a caring family. I know he ended up at animal control, somebody adopted him, and then within a week he got hit by a car and turned back over to animal control, then shuffled to the private shelter where I got him.

I took Binky to a cookout on Sunday at my cousin's house (she has two labs and a smaller mutt) and he played and played and played and ran and ran and ran. He slept almost all day Monday.

The gash on his leg is pretty much all healed up (he has five more days of antibiotics.) I cannot believe how quickly it has healed up because it was nasty looking.
