What IS that smell and where is it coming from? Whatever it is, it's NOT natural!
Could it be the rotten sweaty funk of everyone in my building since they cut off the AC in the middle of the day?

divka: I wish! This is neither funk, decay, smoke nor chemical. It is coming from outside.

It's money.

It's my new perfume. Guess you don't like it.

Sorry man. Mexican for dinner last night.

Is it skunk? Skunk can smell surprisingly unnatural.

My other guesses: fresh asphalt. That one really stinky tree that starts to bloom this time of year that smells sort of yeasty.

Nope, sorry muddgirl, I know skunk real well, and I grew up doing roofing.

I have a suspicion what it is, but I need to find collaboration.

err, corroboration, and yes, as I suspected, it's an olfactory hallucination. Plus, my blood pressure is through the roof. Good thing, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Drat!

Huh. Anybody else have olfactory...well, reveries and dream references? I was daydreaming the other day about the gardenias outside Mrs Pax and Pax Jr.'s house, formerly mine as well, although I haven't smelled 'em in three years now. They say smells are the strongest sensory memories of all.
